Bahraini banks acquire key US real estate portfolio

A consortium of Bahrain-based lenders Venture Capital Bank (VC Bank) and Seera Investment Bank has acquired a major real estate portfolio consisting of two multifamily residential assets in Atlanta (US) comprising 866 units. This marks the consortium’s first investment in the US multifamily sector and has been in co-operation with a local partner that has experience in the management and operation of multifamily residential assets. Atlanta remains a hot favourite among global investors, thanks to the large number of Fortune 500 companies that are headquartered there. It is also the fourth biggest city with headquartered Fortune 500 companies after New York City, Houston, and Dallas.

Seera Invests in UK Dementia Care Housing Development

Bahrain-based Seera Investment Bank B.S.C. has announced the successful completion of a new transaction in the UK Dementia Care sector. The transaction comprises a Shari'a compliant equity investment in a dementia care focused housing development in London, United Kingdom. The development, the first of its kind, when completed will provide circa 115 housing units providing specialized care to dementia sufferers. The project will be developed over a 3 to 4 year period. The units are expected to be sold over the development period with distribution of substantially all the originally invested capital in the 4th year of investment together with a part of the profits. Upon completion of the development the project will then be held to benefit from the ongoing care revenues.

Seera's net income reaches $5.1 million

Bahrain-based Seera Investment Bank has reported a net income of $5.1 million for the first half of this year compared with a net income of $1.7m for the same period last year. Total income was $8.5m compared with $4.6m last time. The increase in income was attributed to an increase in management fees on assets under management and the early settlement of financing relating to the bank's aviation portfolio. Total assets of the bank were $349m. Seera's balance sheet remains strong with a capital adequacy ratio of 23 per cent and liquid assets of $33m. Profit for the second quarter was $5.5m compared with a profit of $830,000 for the same period last year. Seera has investments in the industrial manufacturing and transportation sectors in addition to smaller investments in the utilities and real estate sectors.

$12m total income for Seera Investment Bank

Seera Investment Bank yesterday reported a total income of more than $12 million for last year. Net profit for the year was approximately $7m. Chief executive Abdulla Janahi said Seera's existing investments continued to generate income for the bank, and income realised during the year was primarily from recurring revenues from these investments including lease rentals and investment and management fees. Market conditions remain challenging and a quick turnaround appears unlikely he added.

Seera in London student housing project accord

Seera Investment Bank has negotiated a Sharia-compliant structured financing facility wich will serve for developing a new purpose built student housing project and commercial property in central London. The project should be completed next year. The property will provide 339 rooms for students as well as a commercial space of 37,000 square feet. The property will be constructed in the vicinity of Aldgate East Station in Central London which location is not far away from a number of higher educational institutions. The first phase of the construction has recently been finished.

Seera Investment Bank Completes $300 million Sale of UK Investment

Seera Investment Bank revealed the sale of BWA Water Additives (BWA), a UK based company in a transaction valuing the company at around $ 300 million.
The company's new owner is Berwind Corporation.
Seera Investment Bank has a strategy of seeking investments with strong fundamentals which exhibit potential for growth.
