Great Eastern Takaful has appointed Shahrul Azlan Shahriman as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Shahrul Azlan was the Chief Distribution Officer in Prudential BSN Takaful, with local and international experience in multichannel distribution. Great Eastern Takaful Chairman, Datuk Kamaruddin Taib said Shahrul Azlan was the best person to steer the company given his vast experience and established track record. He added that in Malaysia there was tremendous potential for Great Eastern Takaful to serve the underinsured and fast-growing Islamic insurance market in the country.

Great Eastern Takaful aims to be profitable by end-December and be among the top three players in the local takaful business, according to Chief Executive Officer Zafri Ab Halim. The company has registered growth which was mainly attributed to improvements from its corporate agency and bancatakaful channel. Great Eastern Takaful will continue growing its agency distribution via direct and dual agency as a key distribution channel as well as develop and launch products catered primarily for the Muslims' market. The joint-venture company between Great Eastern Holdings Ltd unit, I Great Capital Holdings Sdn Bhd and Koperasi Angkatan Tentera (M) Bhd, yesterday changed its status from a private to a public entity in line with the requirement of the Islamic Financial Services Act 2013.

Great Eastern Takaful appoints new CEO

Great Eastern Takaful Sdn Bhd (Great Eastern Takaful) has appointed Zafri Abdul Halim as the CEO, effective from March 1, 2013. Before, he was the company’s chief financial officer. Zafri holds a Master of Science in Project Management from George Washington University and a Bachelors Degree in Accountancy in addition to being a member of Malaysian Institute of Accountant and a certified Chartered Accountant. He said, Great Eastern Takaful will pursue its main strategies in penetrating the local market with its dual agency approach and direct agency under Great Eastern Takaful Own Agency (GOA).

Customer Service Representative, The Weld

•Possess minimum SPM with strong credits in English and Mathematics or STPM. Diploma in Business related courses is preferred.

•Preferably with one year customer service experience in a shopping centre or the hospitality industry

•Good command of English and Bahasa Malaysia. Ability to speak Mandarin would be advantageous

•Degree, Post-Graduate Diploma or Professional degree in Computer Science/ Information Technology or equivalent preferably with 1-2 years' experience in applications development

•Experience in building Insurance System will be advantageous
